Out Of The Equation, the final book in this series begins…
Killing the boss of a drug cartel is a big deal. A very big deal. Killing him accidentally is foolish to say the least. There’s a long list of consequences to go through in your head before you decide your next move. But Maria Cortez was distracted and had no time to worry about that yet. She was distracted at first by the noise as the front of her rented Corolla slammed into the back of a Jaguar saloon owned by Ernesto Gutierrez, the aforementioned cartel boss, crushing the front of her car and the rear of his into a barely recognisable mess. She’d never crashed a car before, least of all deliberately, so hadn’t expected this much damage when she’d floored the pedal fifty metres away and deliberately driven into his car in an attempt to stop the gunfight that looked likely to break out. She was also distracted by the bodies that jumped or were knocked out of the way, that had been standing at the side or in front of the car, which she’d been too focussed to notice when she’d made her decision. Only then, when the dust started to settle, did she become distracted by the thought of what might happen as a consequence of what she’d just done.
